Altrincham Phase Two

Reversal of Altrincham’s prospects is steadily building. The benefits of an enhanced shopping experience, open festivals in Goose Green and environmental improvements stemming from the recently completed public realm scheme, will underpin residents’ confidence as the second phase of the works is implemented.

Installation of a bespoke gateway totem marked commencement of the second phase today. The marker has been set in the central reservation on Stamford New Road, its upright, rectilinear form complementing the adjacent clock tower.

The custom-built totem is in keeping with the graphic style of the recently introduced street furniture; both designed by Planit-IE to celebrate Altrincham as a modern market town. Internal illumination highlights text cut out of the T-washed and lacquered steel to emphasise this distinctive feature by night.

The marker was created by long-term practice friend and collaborator Chris Brammall, who installed the totem in conjunction with the public realm Main Contractor J Cooney Limited. It announces visitor’s arrival at the town and welcomes local residents home.
