BALI Award Successes
We are delighted that three Contractor’s work on Planit-IE schemes has been endorsed through this year’s BALI National Landscape Awards. Quality of workmanship and attention to detail are paramount in the delivery and translation of proposals from design to reality, as recognised by the landscape construction industry’s premier award scheme.
The Landscape Group was announced as a winner in the over £1.5m category for the transformation of Exchange Quay from a previously outdated commercial complex into a vibrant and thriving setting for business in Salford Quays. The introduction of a linear park and a shared space at the heart of the avenue rebalances uses to create a people-friendly environment. It was a pleasure to work with the Landscape Group and we are exceptionally pleased with the delivery of the key spaces, which were designed for visitors and office workers to enjoy. These areas include a podium garden featuring strikingly lit shelters set between multi-stem trees within generous herbaceous planting beds.
P Casey (Land Reclamation) was a winner in the same category for their work on NOMA’s Phase 2 and 3 Public Realm Works. The creation of a brand new city-centre public square called Sadler’s Yard on a split-level site, that was occupied by cramped back streets and derelict buildings, is no mean feat. Added to the mix was the complete renewal of the surrounding streetscape and refurbishment of Angel Meadows park all within a very tight schedule. Despite this Casey has delivered a stunning and distinctive scheme that revels in the quality of workmanship and materiality that give this burgeoning quarter of the city its stunning looks and unique sense of place.
Hultons Landscapes was a winner within the under £300k category for their delivery of soft landscape works associated with Sci-Tech Plot 2 in Cheshire. An overgrown and unmanaged thicket and roundabout have been replaced by a sculpture-inspired linear park and beautiful new square that unites the two sides of Daresbury Science Park. The soft works are a key element and a major component in making the park so successful. The quality of preparation, planting and attention to detail was excellent throughout and was overseen in person by the company’s MD, including hand picking the trees and plant stock alongside Planit-IE staff.
All companies now wait the announcement of Principal Awards. The submissions are in and we wish every success to all three Contractors.
