Liverpool International Waterfront Forum
Last week saw the first International Waterfront Forum to be held in Liverpool as part of the International Festival for Business 2014.
Sponsored by Planit-IE alongside Arup, Peel, Winckworth Sherwood, Arrowcroft and the Liverpool Waterfront Business Partnership, the forum was billed as an opportunity for Liverpool to learn from and forge links with other cities across the globe who have developed iconic waterfronts. For our part we invited our client from Denmark, Rita Justensen, Director of Planning and Architecture at Copenhagen City and Port Development, who spoke alongside representatives from Shanghai and New York on the challenges they face in the development of their waterfronts, and how they are used as a key ingredient of City Branding. Pete Swift, Planit”s Joint Managing Partner gave a joint presentation with Lindsey Ashworth, Development Director, Peel Group, on the latest progress on our Liverpool Waters project and in particular the ”12 Plots” study – soon to be unveiled by Peel during the IFB. Joined by our friends from 3XN Architects for the ”lessons learnt” session in the afternoon, the day, hosted by Tate Liverpool, was a resounding success and we are delighted to report that it has been chosen as the first IFB2014 Legacy event, to be held in the Liverpool ACC next summer.
