Students in the Studio
Final year undergraduate Landscape students from MMU, and their course supervisor Eddy Fox, joined Planit-IE for an In-Practice Day event at our Altrincham studio as part of the Landtech series within their course.
The programme was designed to give the students a sense of life in a successful practice and to reflect their current focus on construction detailing for their final year projects.
Staff took the students through the components and organisation of a Construction Package and, using Planit-IE projects as case studies, looked at specific details and photographs of implemented elements. A walking tour of Altrincham Town Centre highlighted our soon to be constructed public realm proposals. This topic extended into a presentation covering the principles of shared space design and the day was rounded off by a technical session relating to bound and un-bound paving construction.
The practice has collaborated with the University through a variety of events. We have been involved in judging final submissions and have hosted an In-Practice Day for the last four years to introduce students to a working studio environment. Thanks go to P-IE’s Johannes Dobrat, Jotaro Tokunaga, Lindsay Humblet and Matt Stirton for organising this year’s event.
