Welcome New Team Members

New Year – New Starters. We are delighted to welcome new team members in both our Altrincham and London studios.

Ben Webb joins us as a Graduate Urban Designer. He studied Human Geography at the University of Leeds, specialising in the social life of spaces, and how human behaviour is shaped by sensory and physical environments. He took this sociological focus and passion for visual culture into Advertising, via film making, for several years after graduating. An ongoing obsession with cities, places, and how people experience space led him to a MArch Urban Design in 2015 at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. Since graduating he worked on several self-initiated and freelance creative and design projects, before working for Origin3 on a new settlement design competition.

Cassandra Alves has moved to the UK from Canada to join us as an Urban Designer. She’s previously worked in a variety of design roles in Toronto since graduating from Lund University in Sweden with a Master in Architecture (specialising in Sustainable Urban Design), which followed a previous Degree in Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design. Cassandra has a strong interest, as both a volunteer and creative team member, in community based design, facilitation and collaboration. She also has a passion for furniture making and alternative building solutions.

Frances McShane comes to us as a Landscape Architect from BDP where she worked on the design and delivery of a broad range of public space schemes, parks and playgrounds in the UK and overseas. She is experienced in BIM coordination, more specifically modelling landscape design and producing detailed design packages in Revit. Prior to joining BDP, Frances worked for Townsend Landscape Architects on Woodberry Downs, Wharf Road at King’s Cross and Aldgate Place.

Frank Fitzpatrick is a Project Landscape Architect from Ares Landscape. He joined Ares after gaining a Masters with Distinction in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield. Frank has delivered several schools and two High Speed rail colleges, played an ongoing role in Chesterfield Waterside and worked on the Crown Place Public Realm in Liverpool.

Sophie Rowe joins us a Graduate Landscape Architect. Sophie recently completed her Masters at the University of Sheffield, graduating with a Distinction and Award for Inspirational Planting Design. She worked for Ares Landscape Architects during her year out and since finishing her course; contributing to projects such as Paddington Central to the east of Liverpool City Centre, and The Olympic Legacy Park on the former site of the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield.

Tom Fitzpatrick joins the Virtual Planit team as a 3D Visualiser from The Neighbourhood. He joined The Neighbourhood with a First class Honours degree in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University and since developed a great set of skills that will complement the rest of the VP team.

Ben, Cassandra, Frank, Sophie and Tom are welcome additions to the Altrincham Studio, and Frances joins our London team. We’re pleased to have you all with us.
