Naomi Burl promoted to the new role of Director of Operations

Blogs
Naomi Burl has been promoted to the new role of Director of Operations at Planit.  She has been with the business for over ten years and during that time operated as Practice Manager across our five studios. Naomi led the business’s certification as a B Corp and played a vital role in our transition to becoming Employee Owned.

Naomi said “Having adopted an integral role in Planit’s establishment as an Employee-Owned business, it is apt to be appointed as Planit’s first non-equity Director. Embedding a culture of mutual responsibility and empowering our team as co-owners, has and continues to underpin my work. Supporting Planit’s purpose to ‘Design for all Life to Thrive in Balance’ is both a privilege and a responsibility - one that spans delivery of high-level strategic initiatives to daily operations. I welcomed the invitation to join the Director team and the opportunities this role brings to further benefit people and the planet.”

Pete, our co-founder and CEO says  "On behalf of the Directors, I am delighted to welcome Naomi to the team and look forward to working closer than ever to deliver our strategic plan and fulfil our true potential. I’d say that she’s probably been acting and operating at the Director level for some time, so I am personally grateful that she’s been patient enough to wait for us to get all the other parts of this puzzle into place."

The move, a key step within our wider strategic plan, will enable Pete to move to become our CEO. Working closely with our Chairman Ed, he will now be able to focus on the strategic growth of Planit across the UK, in collaboration with our Senior Directors Rich, Lindsay and Andy.

"Disruption and uncertainty have become the norms in our world today" says Pete "but we are acutely focused on our regenerative purpose. Naomi’s promotion and the creation of a senior director team enables us to look ‘up and out’ at a time when it is needed more than ever."

We have now established a regional studio network that sees us involved in some of the biggest and most impactful regeneration and development projects across the UK devolved regions, throughout London and the southeast. To read more about these, check them out here.

Like many other business founders, we were keen to identify a succession plan that allows us to significantly reduce our majority shareholding, whilst ensuring that our loyal staff are rewarded and our clients, partners and suppliers have assurance that they can continue to rely on us as a trusted business partner.
